SmartPick Solutions, Inc. is a privately owned company founded in 1998. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, SmartPick has provided high-availability storage solutions to fortune 500 companies. Our technical team has been in the storage industry since the early eighties with broad and in-depth experience with all types of data storage and retrieval technology. We have designed and implemented many large-scale hierarchical storage and backup solutions.
There is a growing reliance on computer and data stored on disks to conduct daily business. It is crucial for every business to have a reliable data storage, data archival, data backup, and disaster recovery solution in place. With our focus firmly on data backup and disaster recovery for small and medium businesses, we have developed a series of appliances for data storage and backup. Team
Swami Nathan
Founder
Swami Nathan brings over 25 years of high availability data storage experience to company. Nathan started his career as a Firmware and Hardware Design Engineer developing an intelligent caching SCSI disk controller at a time when the highest capacity PC disk drive was 20 MB. Continuing in the storage systems industry, Nathan led the development of many high-end RAID systems, notably Hitachi Raid Array system, Adaptec's advanced RAID controller, Auspex's next generation storage system, and Unisys high-availability mass-storage system.
Prior to founding SmartPick Solutions, Nathan was the Director of Software at Ejasent, leading the development of a distributed applications and sever management infrastructure. He holds several patents in data storage software and hardware, as well as application management.
As a principal consultant of SmartPick Solutions, Nathan has served several companies in project management andprogram management, managing cross-functional teams in large-scale projects and also as business analyst and solutions architect.
Nathan received a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Madras, India and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Suren Lalapet

Suren Lalapet, as an entrepreneurial leader, has over 20 years of experience in multicultural and geographically diverse global technology markets. He is a seasoned sales and marketing executive with experience delivering worldwide sales growth for software and hardware technology companies. He has served in technical and management positions with Engineering Software, IBM, CNet, Glenayre Technologies, ADC Telecommunications, and Neptune Technology.
Lalapet received a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Madras, India and a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Shankar Venkatraman
Technology Advisor
Shankar Venkataraman brings in over 20 years of professional experience in leading high technology companies such as Alcatel, Hewlett-Packard, Optivision, Inc. Prior to joining Smartpick, he was with Manystreams, Inc which built one of the most sophisticated multi point control unit (MCU) available in the market. At Hewlett Packard, he served as a key architect for media server products that are widely deployed and used by industry. In addition, he served in several standard body technical committees representing employer.His expertise areas are media server technologies, DSP and network communications.
Venkatraman holds a Ph.D degree in electrical engineering from the University of California , Davis.
